Jon Kalvig

High School Pastor

  

Jon oversees the vision and leadership for 9th-12th grade students. That involves equipping student and adult leaders, creating programming, events and trips, and most importantly piggy-backing on the Holy Spirit's work in Valley Church Student Ministries. Jon was born the same day and year as Britney Spears - unfortunately that wasn't enough to convince her to be his prom date. Jon and his wife, Kelly have one son named Judah and a daughter named Halle. Email Jon


Christina Nichols

Student Ministries Associate

   Christina organizes and leads Pledge, the discipleship element of VCSM, Big Wins, the Outreach component of VCSM, and Underground, the large group worship experience of VCSM.  Christina is a health food hippie and loves to recreate recipes to make them more healthful.  She also loves to run, make people laugh, and spend time with new and old friends.  Christina's family spreads from San Francisco, CA to Holland, Michigan, including a dairy farm in Southwest Iowa that is dear to her heart.  Email Christina


Tyler Smith

Student Ministries Intern

   Tyler Smith is the school-year intern for VCSM. Tyler is a junior at Simpson College studying Political Science and Economics. Because he is not 35 yet, he has decided to explore other career options before he runs for president. Tyler enjoys playing and watching sports. He is originally from Albert City, Iowa, where his family still resides. He is looking forward to adding to the team in the areas of student leadership, expanding the Mosaic ministry to Simpson College, and as Jon says, "other tasks he assigns."
