We had a great week of service to our south side neighbors. In honor of Teacher Appreciation week, we wrote encouragement cards to each teacher in Morris Elementary and South Union Elementary. We also embraced these teachers by serving them breakfast. Valley Church Southview
The City Center has a new name—Valley Church Southview! We are excited to announce our plan to open a second location of Valley Church on the south side of Des Moines. From the unexpected donation of the building to the high interest in forming a spiritual community on the south side, God’s providence is clear in the journey toward Valley Church Southview.

Valley Church will be one church with two locations. The same message given on Sunday morning at the main campus will be shown via a big screen at the south side. Jon Kalvig, current High School Pastor at Valley Church, will be stepping into the role of campus pastor at Valley Church Southview in the coming months. Please be in prayer as regular ministry opportunities begin and the vision for the Southview campus continues to come into focus. View video below to view the full announcement.

Praises

•  The competent and diligent work of the Facilities Planning Group, church staff and SVPA architects has resulted in a great building design.
• The site grading is finished, and we are ready for spring construction!

Prayer Requests

• We will be seeking final approval from the West Des Moines Board of Adjustment in near future.
• We are currently receiving bids and will be awarding a contractor by the end of January. Please pray for favorable construction costs.

City Center
Praises

• The acquisition of the South Des Moines property, through donation, is now complete.
• Opportunities to reach out in love to this community are numerous!

Love You Des Moines Update from Sunday, November 20

The vision of LUDM is to expand ministry to our community (neighborhood and greater Des Moines area) so we can share the life transformation we have experienced in Christ with others.

Community Center: As site grading continues, the facilities planning group is working with the design team and Valley Church staff to complete the design. Once completed, the design will be offered to contractors to bid the project. Pray for God's timing in all of these steps.

City Center: VCSM is inviting you to come serve with them at Door of Faith next Sunday (November 27) as they monthly serve in the south Des Moines neighborhood of Army Post Rd. and SW 9th. Contact Jon Kalvig at 975-0664 for information.

-Leaders are canvasing the City Center neighborhood find how Valley can best meet the neighborhood's needs.

-Transfer of ownership of the City Center is in its final stages

-The Maplenol Barn is up and on its foundation, the next step is replacing the 80 year-old floor.

-Continue to pray for God's direction as we work to reach out to the people of Des Moines.

Here is the latest Love You Des Moines update from Brian Prewitt and Greg Gear. Some highlights include:

-We have to date over 3.5 million dollars in commitments. Praise God!

-The Maplenol Barn is up and on its foundation, the next step is replacing the 80 year-old floor.

-Leaders are over 80% done with Design and Development plans for the Community Center.

-Continue to pray for God's direction as we work to reach out to the people of Des Moines.

Love you des moines update from sunday, august 14

Here is the latest Love You Des Moines update from Mike Colby. Some highlights include:

-Volunteers continue to give great ideas on the best use of the City Center. Once those ideas have been filtered, the remodeling process will begin.

-Leaders will be going to the Board of Adjustment asking for site approval on the Community Center soon. After receiving approval and getting the grading permit, dirt work will begin on the site, with construction set to start in Spring 2012.

-Thank you so much for all of the prayer so far, please continue to pray for everyone involved in this project.

Love you Des moines UPDATE FROM SUNDAY, AUGUST 7

Here is the latest Love You Des Moines update from Christina Mueller. Some highlights include:

-Christina and some volunteers have been gathering information and researching the demographics and unmet needs of the Southside residents.

-They have been talking with business and community leaders, as well as churches and ministries to find out the best way to meet those needs.

-Continue to pray for the leaders of this project, and that this building will meet the needs of the neighborhood.

Love You Des Moines Update from Sunday, July 31

Here is the latest Love You Des Moines update from Greg Gear. Some highlights include:

- The Maplenol Barn has been moved to its foundation, and should be completed within a week.

- The Facilities Team is getting the Community Center site plan ready to present to the city, and if all goes as planned they will break ground by late September or early October.

- Please continue to pray for the members of this team as they work on this project, and also for how this building may be used in the ministry of Valley Church.
